First of all heartful congratulations to AR.Murugadoss sir for having the guts to bring up a political subject at this time. Salute to you sir.

Sarkar, the most ancipated film of the year has come. 3rd outing between ARM and Thalapathy Vijay, have they succeeded? I’m here to give my thoughts.

From the first frame until the interval was so delightful to watch. Starting with the description Sundar Ramasamy ( Vijay) visualising a small flashback of how he has been portrayed in the life of Vegas.

Thalapathy’s intro was certified as stylish and class. Whenever his intro comes by the feeling of it is something we can’t experience with another actors. Pure magical. Straight into the intro song CEO in the house. Energetic dance moves with styleness. Youthful moments.

Normally when it comes to social oriented there will be unwanted scenes, however ARM has successfully driven into the plot without any delay. That made the film more interesting.

ARM has observed a lot of points which were crucial for a political film. There’s a scene where Thalapathy talks about Section P-49 which many of us wouldn‘t have known until now. Definently a inspiring thing to take out from.

As the films travels , there’s love moments , family moments etc. It’s all what we used to see from Thalapathy Vijay. I always wondered where would ’Top Tucker‘ song would be placed but the way they’ve placed in parts is a plus point, could say mass moments.

Fight sequences were a little over the top but when a mass hero like Vijay comes in for entertainment then it’s delight to watch.

Pre interval fight sequence was very contemporary. Usage of colour tones and camera work made it so captivating. Vijay one line counters and his way of portraying in a scene is truly magical. I just get a instant connection.

The hospital scene was so hardhitting. The way Thalapathy control his emotions and delivers those unbearable dialogues, truly this is what I call a performer.

‘Thuppaki’ intermission - Mass

’Kaththi’ intermission - Mass

’Sarkar’ intermission - Mass filled with class.

For the record Thalapathy did smoke in this film but it has swag to it and it’s only for entertainment.

In 2nd half i would say it’s been a emotional ride. There are some minuses but it didn’t bother me when Thalapathy was in the frame. His presence can fill the minuses into pluses.

The one scene which strood out for me was ‘ Ayodikuppam’. When the people asks him various of questions and they didn’t take him so seriously until a guy threw a tomato at him, that’s when I saw the real life Thalapathy that we’ve been seeing majority of our lives. The small story he always tells his fans , the exact the potrayation has been shown in this particular scene. Heartful thank you to ARM for that 🙏🏾. The pain and the emotions Thalapathy delivered the dialogues, it did really hurt me and made me emotional.

So any goosebumps moments in the 2nd half. The main highlight is ‘Oru viral puratchi‘. The song has elevated the audiences to core. Important montages situated in the song which made it more powerful.

Minuses would be ‘ omg ponnu‘ song and rushed climax. Thought ARM forced the ‘ omg ponnu’ song, never the less Thalapathy cute steps always gives us happiness.

Climax fight scene was unessacary, could’ve dealed with the situation in different way. The thought was spot on but the fight did slow it down.

Cast wise ARM could’ve portrayed the villain character more effectively. It felt the villains were so light hearted. Varu did her part good but was expecting a equal importance with Thalapathy which was quite disappointing. Yogi babu had his moments, not that much of a screen space time. ’Simtaangaran’ song was great to watch. Thalapathy‘s energy is wordless. Fantastic!

Others who has done small roles has done their job well.

ARR bgm is one of the biggest plus points. Like I mentioned the way he gelled ‘Top Tucker‘ songs was such a treat to watch.

Sreekar prasad’s editing superbly done. Fight scenes edited crisply.

Girish Gangadharan has done a effortless job. For his first tamil film it was great. There are many scenes he has shown his magic.

B.Jeyamohan social driven dialogues will be appreciated. So many claps.

Captain of the ship AR.Murugadoss has written a strong plot with fairly engaging screenplay.

Verdict: Sarkar is slightly below par standard from the previous two outing from the duo, but has important msgs to put in our minds With Thalapathy Vijay stealing the show. Another success is on the way.

3.5/5
